What file formats does Bloom Reader read?

Basically only one book format…the .bloomd (which we’re in the process of renaming .bloompub) format that Bloom Editor exports when you publish to Bloom Reader, or that we publish as one of the artifacts on BloomLibrary.
It does also recognize a file format that is a collection of bloomd files and one that represents a bookshelf.

Would it be correct to say that the .bloomd file is a zip of the book’s folder with the files relevant to the Bloom Reader environment?

Sort of. Many file formats these days are zips at some level. But for advertising & training, we can keep it simple. bloomPUBs are

  • like better ePUBs
  • read by Bloom Reader, Reading App Builder, & Bloom Library
