Hello! Apologies if this has been asked a million times for different reasons.
I’ve customized a few things about my desktop, and because of that the text on the on-screen keyboard for any non-default letters are a very light color, making it pretty unreadable. I’m super aware this is my fault and caused by external things, so if there’s nothing that can be done then that’s alright.
Screenshot here:
I’ve dug around the files a bit and found several places where there are hex codes for colors, and I’ve edited all of those many times (and of course reverted them back to normal when they didn’t achieve the desired affect), as well as downloaded keyman developer and tried to find a way through there, but I can’t seem to affect the keyboard itself; only the configuration menu.
I know there’s stuff on the roadmap for the on-screen keyboard and its visuals, but does anyone know what I can do until then to make using it a little easier? Either forcing a dark text color or changing the color of the keys to be darker, either one works. Thank you <3
(Just to be super clear, I’m using purely the windows desktop version)
Yes, you are right about the upcoming features of this but I can’t find one documented as future. It would help a lot if we could get you to open a feature request on GitHub to mark it there.
Currently Keyman Developer do not support styling for OSK on Windows, only for Mobile.
Could you let us know what setting you’ve set to effect the keyboard this way?
Ah, I believe I saw it on a post about the roadmap from 2023? And some post asking about css styling. But I’ll log onto github rq and try and make one <3
It wasn’t a specific setting I changed, but rather I’m using a community-made windows theme that makes a lot of little changes, like making the buttons at the top of a window kind of resemble linux, forces dark mode in some places, enables aero/glass whatever it’s called, and sets everything to the Catpuccin Mocha color scheme. So it’s a super niche conflict here.
Thank you for the response c:
Please allow us some time to work on this and we’ll notify you once there is a version available for download to test this feature with the community-made windows theme.
