versions of the layout "US International" (fewer or more dead keys), physical bluetooth keyboard on Android, text editors such as KeymanWeb

Are there any text editors similar to KeymanWeb, allowing the user to switch between standard keyboard layouts, such as (different versions of) US International?

In particular, I’d like to use the variety of US International that was the standard on Android Samsung devices, and probably on all Android devices, with a physical keyboard, around the year 2020 (up to 2024 or even 2025, I think).

Unfortunately, the latest system updates (Android 14, at least on Samsung devices) have changed the US International layout. Now, it is the Windows-like version, where you can’t type the quotes and double quotes in the normal way. Disabling the dead key function for the key ’ and the key " would be crucial (the other dead keys are ok: I need them, for àèìòù etc.).

A web-based text editor would be ok, if I can’t find a better solution. Or, even better, an offline editor. (… Or a proper Keyman keyboard layout? Is it reasonable to use Keyman in order to make an almost-standard layout? As with the Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator on Windows?)

Thank you!

Welcome to the community site @Emanuele_Saiu,

You can search and download keyboards from keyman.com. There are many keyboard layouts and you might find one to your liking. You can also create and customize your own keyboard using Keyman Developer.

To be able to use Keyman keyboards, you can download Keyman app from Google play. You can switch between many keyboards and use them to type in any apps just like Android keyboards.

Please ask if you have more questions. Thanks!
