Vedic Sanskrit keyboard continuously presses Alt key on Windows 11

I am using this keyboard: Vedic Sanskrit Devanagari Phonetic (ITRANS) keyboard version 1.3.0. My Keyman version is 17.0.330 and Windows 11 version 24H2 (10.0.26100.3746).

It was working fine for some months. Now, (I guess it might have been triggered by a Windows update), whenever I use that keyboard, it works fine for one keystroke, then it triggers the Alt key to be continuously “pressed”. Thereafter, whatever I type on the keyboard, it acts as if Alt is being held. (For example, in Word, it starts opening various menus.)

This issue even persists after I deactivate the Keyman keyboard and move back to the default Windows English keyboard via the language bar!

How do I fix this?

@merni
Welcome to the community forum. Unfortunately, you are experiencing a bug that we have not yet created a permanent fix for yet. I received a log recently that I hope will help us solve the issue. Issue #8064
In the meantime if you open the the Keyman onscreen keyboard. Shift+Alt+K or via right click on keyman icon in the system tray.
Then press click on the modifier key in your case alt that is stuck. If that doesn’t work you will probably have to sign in and out.
If this is occurring often you can take the step of disabiling the serialised input.

Disable Serialised Input

  1. Open Keyman Configuration
  2. Select Options / Keyman System Settings
  3. For engine.compatibility.serialize_input, enter the value 0.
  4. Restart Keyman

Full details: here HOWTO: Enable or Disable Serialised Input in Keyman Desktop (Windows)

Thanks! As I am getting this issue every time I use the Keyman keyboard, I set the serialize option and now the issue is solved.

Glad you can move forward for now.
I will be looking into this issue again and may reach out to you and ask for you to turn on logging for a simple test if I don’t have luck finding it with the current logs I have from another user.
