Unable to install keyman IPA keyboard

I have an IPA keyboard installed already, but this shows up as "Undetermined (and-Latn) IPA (SIL), and it does not give me the International Phonetic Alphabet.
So I went to the website and downloaded the keyman keyboard IPA version 2.01. My antivirus Eset Endpoint Antivirus quarantined the download, but I got it out of the quarantine and installed it via the exe file. But nothing changed - I still don’t get the International Phonetic Alphabet, even after a new start.
Any advice, or someone who could lead me through the process via remote control?

Welcome back to our community, @Astrid

This is going in the right step. I’ll walk you through how to get the International Phonetic Alphabet.

The keyboard is meant to show up as “Undetermined (und-Latn) IPA (SIL)” and it will display the QWERTY keyboard layout.

Did you mean the IPA keyboard layout is not showing? Instead, you could get the Alphabet by following the keyboard rules documented here.

We’re happy to see that you’ve found a way to workaround Eset Endpoint Antivirus restriction. If the keystrokes can’t be produced even after following the rules then please ask us again.

Thank you.

Hi MengHeng,

this is what I am trying to explain. I don’t get any IPA results after
installing the keyboard and following the rules.
I can’t generate the phonetic IPA characters with that IPA keyboard.

Please respond again what else I could do.

Blessings
Astrid

Hello, @Astrid

Thanks for confirming! Keyman hasn’t been working well with Antivirus software so could you disable the software and try again?

If disabling it works but you wish to keep it then please follow this thread to disable a few things in the setting that could get the keyboard working again after a restart.

I can’t replicate the issue at the moment but there are information that you could help us with:

  1. Could you let us know which applications are you seeing this issue on?
  2. Could you follow the steps to send us a diagnostic report?

Hello MengHeng,

I was seeing this issue on any files, even in Word and Excel, offline.
But this is working now (I don’t know why all of a sudden).

If I try it in email, it works now too. On websites, I haven’t tried it
yet.
Thus, I will save your email for later reference, if I need to use it in
browsers, and otherwise we can close this conversation.

Thanks so much.
Astrid
