Tŝilhqot’in keyboard modification suggestion

Hello,
I am a former SIL member currently living in the Tŝilhqot’in area and teaching linguistics and language learning to people in the area. I appreciate the availability online at your online site, but I have a suggestion for an additional feature.

In the language, there are no instances of double consonants at all; my suggestion would be to adapt the current keyboard in the following way:
ss becomes ŝ
zz becomes ẑ
ww becomes ŵ
and ii becomes ɨ

This would be easy to remember and also easy to type.

Thanks again for all you are doing for marginalized languages of the world.

Cheers,
radney

Hi Radney,

Thank you for the suggestion. The source code to the fv_tsilhqotin keyboard is on GitHub, so I’ve created issue #226 for someone to implement your suggestions.

We encourage enthusiastic users like yourself to download Keyman Developer, modify the keyboard, and submit the changes.

You can follow the short keyboard tutorial to learn about the .kmn keyboard source file.
