Still no Chinese OSK in KeymanWeb?

Is it still the case that there is no on-screen keyboard for typing mandarin (as in typing pinyin and choosing characters)? I can type with my physical keyboard, but there is no on-screen keyboard to type on.

I read an old topic here, and I thought this would probably be implemented by now. Ahem… just one of the world’s largest languages you know ;).

Same for Japanese by the way.

Hello @laban,

To develop the suggested keyboard you’d need to use the Keyman’s IMX. The conversation below is a snippet of a topic that may have the answer.

Most of our keyboards are designed by the Keyboard author who know the language well and are seeking to implement their own versions. You are very welcome to design the keyboard, and we’d be happy to review your submission.

Resources:

  1. Korean RR keyboard
  2. Simplified Chinese keyboard
  3. IMX needs additional dll’s to support korean_rr
  4. Cross-platform IMX (picker) support

Please give us more information about IMX, please step by step show us how you build a dll file and imply it. We are not clever enough to understand this rocket science by such several rows of scripts, so sorry.

Can you make a video to show us how did you make a dll file and put it in a keyboard step by step and post it on youtube?

Hello Laban, I think we should form a team now to reach this dream. I have asked that for one year

When we get the resources to work on this, we’ll share. I don’t know when that will be. This isn’t magic – it takes work and effort from the Keyman team, and you are not paying us to do this, so you just have to be patient.

That is interesting, can we keyman programmers form a discuss group to discuss and develop the IME out by ourselves?

BTW, how can we get more funding?

maybe we can ask AI how to do so
