Please help us test 4.1 Beta

We’re getting ready to move Bloom 4.1 from Beta to Release. There appear to be at least 51 people using it, which great! If you’re not already testing it, this would be a great time help out the Bloom community by giving Bloom 4.1 a run with your books and your computer(s).

Here’s are some highlights:

  • 94 Bug fixes

  • Settings

    • You can now customize how Language 2 and Language 3 are displayed, just like you previously could for Language 1.
      See original feature request
  • Edit Tab

    • We enhanced the “Paste Image Credits” function to include the page numbers where the images are located.
    • You can now reach the “Change Layout” button when in “Device 16x9” page size
    • User interface-simplification: we have organized all page-related buttons together in lower left corner.
      • Move the unlocking button to a more obvious location
  • Publish

    • Bloom now ships with the mp3 encoder (“LAME”), so you do not need to install that separately anymore in order to make talking books.
  • Art Of Reading

    • AOR 3.3 offers the new, more permissive BY-SA Creative Commons License

If you already have a beta version, Bloom will automatically ask to update itself. Otherwise, windows users can get 4.1 from the Bloom downloads page. Here are the Linux installation instructions. As usual, you can have the Release & Beta versions installed at the same time, and open books on either.
