OFL license requirements for self-hosting Google fonts?

Hi, we link to Google Fonts to enable several OFL licensed fonts on our website. Recently the Google Fonts service has failed in some scenarios so we’re considering self-hosting the font files. According to OFL licensing, must we provide each font’s license available from our server also (an OFL.txt file for each font in the directory the font is served from)? Thanks for any clarification. I read the FAQs but I didn’t see information that directly answered my question for this self-hosting scenario.

Hi Ted, no you don’t need to provide the license text to the public from your server unless you’re actually distributing the font packages as a separate download. If your purpose is just to enable web fonts on your site there’s nothing you need to do. Cheers, Victor

Thanks Victor! Cheers
