The pinyin keyboard is only available for on the PC
The korea RR keyboard is only available on the phone
they may looks similar but they almost don’t share any similarity
The korean rr keyboard uses a embedded JS file to match jamo text and generate them into the Kanji.
The Pinyin keyboard uses a much more complexed way to generate kanji, it applies a truly IME way. When I type, the pinyin will not disappear in the text at first.
The korean rr keyboard also use dll method but the dll is for generating jamo at first step, the kanji dictionary is in the embedded js file.
The pinyin keyboard use cfx file to store the dictionary.
My idea:
For example I want to design a Japanese keyboard in keyman and can work on the phone and computer.
I think the korean RR keyboard is good for the system on the phone. But we need to make changes:
We need to let the korean RR keyboard to identify symbols other than jamo
We need to let the korean RR keyboard can identify multiple symbols.
We need to move the Kanji window from the bottom of keyboard to the above.
For the pinyin keyboard. I think it’s selecting window is quite well designed but we should move it to the location of text.
The pinyin keyboard won’t let the pinyin appear in the text at first, this is not good for typing language like Japanese which have different parallel writing system
Those icons can be preserved but the code in the pinyin keyboard should be changed.
I am still working on the IME system in keyman.
