How to change what shows up in language bar and proofing language

Instead of “ann-Latn-NG” in the brackets, it should be “Nigeria”:

Instead of “Unknown Locale (ann-Latn) (ann-Latn-NG)”, it should be “Obolo (Nigeria)”:

How do I fix these?

Hello @katelem

Nigeria is a region that is specified along with other tags in the BCP-47 Tag (ann-Latn-NG). Changing it to only Nigeria is not possible.

Please reach out to the Microsoft Team to let them know about this.

From personal experience, Microsoft won’t do it because you have asked; they will only do it when they want to. So, I will manage this until I can find an alternative.

But one question: Is this a familiar issue? Is this how it shows up on all minority language Keyman keyboards or is it only affecting this keyboard? Do keyboards of languages spoken in a multilingual country all have this same issue?

One other example for the Swampy Cree (Tataskweyak) keyboard:

language code “csw”, Canadian syllabic script, Canada.

This happens for all keyboards that Windows does not provide support for. We are actually thankful we can tag languages this much.

I will raise this with my contacts at Microsoft
