German IBM Keyboard on Mac

I’m trying to use my Razer IBM keyboard on my Mac running Catalina 10.15.2 with Keyman 13.0.9 and the “German (IBM)” Keyboard.

Most of the keys line up correct, but there is a difference between what is shown in the documentation ( and the on-screen keyboard. It’s missing the key for <, > and | (left to the y on the german keyboard).

Any chance someone encountered and fixed this before?

This keyboard is on my list to update, so I’ll try and take a look at it in the next few days and see what the problem is.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the community. I’m not sure what the issue is and I don’t have a Mac for testing. I have updated the keyboard now, but it’s not online. I could send you the keyboard package to test it if you want. Please direct message me your email if you wish to try that.

We went ahead and put the new version online: You should probably uninstall the one you have and then install this one. Please do test and feel free to report back here if it fixes your problem.

Hi Lorna,

unfortunately this did not work as expected. I have uninstalled and re-installed the keyboard. Now version 1.1 is installed:

There is still a mismatch between the keyboard in the help and the on-screen keyboard (screenshot in extra post)

I’m still missing the key for the lower, greater, pipe chars… This key also exists on the internal keyboard of the macbook, so I’m not sure if this isn’t a more general issue than just the mapping.

@marc_keyman_com I’ve looked on Windows and the help file and OSK all show the 102nd key on Windows. Is this a macOS bug?

Turns out this is a limitation in Keyman for macOS. The Keyman for macOS on screen keyboard does not currently support showing the 102nd key. I’ve opened an issue to address this in a future version of Keyman (reported as an enhancement rather than a bug – because it’s never been supported thus far).

Feature request at

We’ve just committed a new feature in for 14.0 which will address this limitation.

Showing here French Basic keyboard with the extra key visible; I’m aware that the Enter key is the wrong shape (which also means the key above it is in the wrong place); this will be a future enhancement, but at least the extra key is visible :).
