Find/replace function on its way?

Hello, I’ve seen a few times in the forum a request for a find and replace function. I would like to add another reason it would be useful:

Inserting segment markers to correctly distinguish the audio currently requires the segment markers to be deleted again after splitting. Having a find and replace/delete function would greatly speed up our work.

Thank you!

Hi Daniel

Inserting segment markers to correctly distinguish the audio currently requires the segment markers to be deleted again after splitting.

Good news, we fixed that a while back. See (Bloom 5.5 release notes).

John

Oh really? That’s funny, I’m using 5.6.7 and still getting segment markers in the books (the ones I sometimes forget to delete). I wonder what I need to do to get rid of them properly.

Daniel

Hi Dan.

The segment markers will remain in the text (available/shown in Edit when the Talking Book Tool is open) but are otherwise hidden from view.

Previously, you had to 1) insert markers 2) split the text 3) manually remove markers so they don’t appear in published views.

Now, you don’t have to remove the markers.

Does this explain what you are seeing?

Hi Colin, I’m getting ready to publish a new app with new books within a week or two, so I’ll be able to test it then.

In the meantime, it would be nice to be able to find/delete the segment markers after splitting the audio because it makes a difference in the layout of the page when adding pictures (the segment markers lengthen the text and cause word wrap to be different to the published product).
Thanks,
D.

I previously missed something important. Closing the Talking Book Tool will hide the segment marks. In this way, you can see what the book will look like in publish time, and make adjustments to the layout as needed.

Does that satisfy your need?

Thank you, yes, that’s a good option to look over it before publishing.
