Feature request - "Match whole words off" Option

L.S.
We have found that for beginning users who will be searching for words and are not yet well aquinted with the orthography, searches will not result in hits because the “Match whole words” is set to ON.

A good feature to have in the app builder would be a choice whether to set to ON or OFF. Thus, partial words will result in hits without having to untick the box first.

Warmly submitted,
Bart.

Yes, it would be good if some of the search features that are done so nicely in SAB could be transferred over to DAB. The ability to turn OFF “Match whole words” by default is one of them.

Another is the ability to change the style of the special characters (the á à ɛ ɛ́, etc. of your screen shot above). We have one language where the only special character is a glottal stop apostrophe ʼ. When that’s the only button on the search dialog, you can hardly see it - it looks like a piece of dust on the screen. In our SAB apps in that language, we use the Search styles in the Interface Styles section, and it has styles like “ui.search.buttons”, which even their default styles make the buttons much easier to recognize.

It would be very nice to bring DAB up-to-date with the SAB search features.

I agree with bart_eenkhoorn1 too. It would be great to be able to have that off by default. Especially for agglutinative languages.

In Scripture App Builder, there are settings for this:

Update: I am pointing out that these are features that are in SAB that have not yet been implemented in DAB. Hopefully, they wouldn’t be difficult to add.

Hello Chris, yes indeed these usefull features exist is SAB, in DAB however, these settings do not yet exist:

I hope therefore that the feature request will be maintained.

NB. There are quite a few basic SAB features that DAB does not yet have, like, for instance, support for unicode in audio filenames to name just one. Or being able to share a word or entry via social media …
