Epub output chapters & font

Two questions regarding epub output.

  1. Local non-Devanagari fonts used in the app are not being displayed in the Calibre TOC, even if I change the display font in Calibre to the desired font. Why? Is there a way to fix this?

  2. The book sub-sections are always labeled “Chapter”, is it possible to change this label to something else (i.e. “Song”)?

@MikeB happy to have a look at your epub. Is the epub text all in Unicode? I’d need the fonts if they are not included in the epub.

I would use the free epub editing software Sigil to see how it is put together. It would allow you to edit the Table of Contents.

In Sigil open the epub.
Go to Tools > Table of Contents > Edit Table of Contents
or
edit the OEBPS/toc.ncx directly.

I was able to edit the TOC, but the FONT is already added to the EPUB in Sigil.
The font is displayed properly in Calibre in the body, but not in the TOC.

I am still stuck with empty TOCs in the ePUBs from SAB/RAB using certain fonts for Tibetan and Limbu scripts. I think it makes the usefulness of the ePUB very limited.

@MikeB can you send me a copy to look at?

I just sent them via email.

@MikeB it did not arrive. It is a zip type file so probably deemed dangerous. Try Google Drive.
