Hello Community, i have recently made a keyboard for Wolof language using arabic script. I have made original wolof font which is a little bit different from standard arabic. The keyboard works with the font properly in my PC Desktop knowing that the font is also installed in the desktop. But in my Tablet, the font render only in the Keyman app but outside it, when i type with the keyboard, it outputs as the standard arabic not my font, here is a screnshot of what i type within the keyman app in my tablet. I want to know, if there is any solution that my keyboard works with my made font in mobile both Android and IOS as it works in Desktops.
Yes, this is as expected. Keyman can display and output your characters but has no control over which fonts other applications (browsers, email, social media, etc.) can use. Unfortunately, to be able to use a custom font on a mobile device in other apps you must either:
- build an app yourself and include the custom font.
- Find an app that allows you to upload/use custom fonts (these are quite rare).
- Root/modify the device to add/replace existing fonts.
These are restrictions imposed by Apple and Google, not Keyman. Interestingly, the only mobile device that allowed me to add fonts freely was an old Windows Mobile Phone…but I didn’t have Keyman at the time.
