Would it be possible to add a new paper size to the list of many in BLOOM? In Colombia a very common paper size is “folio” or “oficio”, which is somewhat shorter than legal size paper - 8.5 X 13". Half this size (8.5 X 6.5") is very useful for books because it is a little wider than the half-letter size.
I recently worked in Bolivia and discovered that this paper size (folio, 8.5 X 13) is very common there also, besides in Colombia. No doubt it is used in other Latin American countries also. Just wanted to confirm the request again since it is a very useful size for books. When folded in half the extra width allows more space for illustrations and primer material.
Thank you! This should be very helpful. I investigated further and found that the only countries that use A4 (and A5) paper in the South Region of the Americas are Peru, Ecuador and Argentina.
But all of these others use letter size and “oficio” (folio): Panama, Colombia, Guatemala, Bolivia, Venezuela, and also Mexico.
I would recommend that you list the paper size in the Spanish listing as “medio oficio vertical” instead of “half folio portrait”.
Another topic: How can we add the Alpha Tiles link for a particular language to the Bloomlibrary.org website?
Regarding the translation,
for Spanish, we have “Medio folio, vertical.” Unfortunately, this got translated but not approved before our initial Beta release. So to see in in the UI currently, you need to turn on unapproved translations (see screenshot below).
However, I’ve suggested to the translator that it will be more consistent with the other translations to have “Medio folio Vertical.”
We’ll have an update in a future release of the Beta.
