I’m trying to make a new layout to the phoenician keyboard to match the layout of the hebrew keyboard, but the characters for phoenician show up as empty squares:

The square box appears because the current font doesn’t support this script. You can change the font display on Character Map by right click and select on Font and choose Noto Sans Phoenician.
