Canadian Multilingual keyboard Pipe not working

Hello,

I installed Keyman with the Canadian Multilingual Keyboard on a Macbook Pro 13 Inch Late 2020 :

This said the layout works perfectly EXCEPTS for the Pipe that is supposed to be right “option” and the wave next to the number one. No joy.

In does work in the visual keyboard but not on the physical keyboard.

Any help is appreciated !

Have you tried using the AltGr key? Unfortunately, we tend to use Windows terminology in our documentation.

Yes tried, with Command, Control, Option and still, only the Pipe will not work :slightly_frowning_face:

All the Slash and Backslash works perfectly

I guess it’s supposed to be right Option. Since I’m not on a mac I can’t test it there. Have you looked at the configuration menu to see if there is a setting? On Windows there’s a dialog that has some settings. It might have something you could change:

Otherwise, someone else will have to help!

I did try the keyboard out on my machine and the key outputs correctly on Windows so I don’t think it’s an issue with the keyboard itself, I think it’s a setting.

Yeah… I tried the Right Option which is like the AltGroup on Windows, no joy :frowning:

On MacOs this is all the option we have in Keyman :

So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong since all other keybind works just not Pipe

Hello @ttheroux,

Is right option + ` still doesn’t get the pipe for you?

I try this on macOS Big Sur and it works.

Nope…

Right Option + ` : æ

And that’s with Keyman and CMS keyboard

Can I know which version of Keyman and macOS are you using? and can you type any other keys on this layout?

Hello,

Thanks for the follow-up.

Actually discovered the issue and resolved after some digging.

For some reason, when you install the latest version of Keyman on macos it will require to allow permission to keyboard and other settings that you need to allow. You then need to re-install keyman in order to work properly since permission we’re accepter afterwards.

Hope this helps someone else !

Glad you found the cause of the problem! Generally, the security settings seem to propagate automatically most of the time, and we haven’t identified precise scenarios in which they are lost. For future readers, this may also be helpful: https://help.keyman.com/knowledge-base/?id=104
