Behaviour of Number Row in "Template Traditional"

Behaviour of Number Row in “Template Traditional”

AS IN OTHER KEYBOARDS:
The top row in Template Traditional should be numbers at Start of Sentence and at the beginning of new lines, but should change to symbols when the keyboard is on shift layer.

CURRENTLY, IN KEYMAN:
At Start of Sentence and at the beginning of new lines, the top row is symbols.

This looks more like a feature request. Are you asking if Keyman can be set to behave as such?

Yes, that is what I mean. Sorry, I didn’t finish the message. Can Keyman be set to behave as such? Thanks.

The traditional template is intended to match the behaviour of a hardware keyboard. So I don’t think it will work to change the way this template works. There is an argument for a more “comprehensive” tablet-targeted template that has more touch-style arrangement of keys, where this would fit. But I don’t have any current plans to add that myself.

The templates are basically just .keyman-touch-layout files, so anyone can create one that we could include in an updated version of Keyman Developer; I would welcome examples!
