What’s new

  • Edit Tab
    • New “Motion Tool” allows you to specify pan/zoom effects of a page, to make a “Motion Book” in Bloom Reader. Then tick the “Motion Book” button when publishing to the Android Bloom Reader. What you’ll get is a book that is a normal talking book in portrait mode, then goes to sit-back-and-watch mode when you turn the device sideways.
    • New “Music Tool” allow you to choose background music and levels, to go along with your Motion Book.
    • We’ve reinstated the ability to zoom via CTRL+mouse wheel.
  • Publish
    • Fonts are now embedded in Bloom Reader books, if their embedded metadata allows that.

If you are using Bloom 4.1 Release, Bloom should automatically ask to update itself. Otherwise, windows users can get 4.2 from the Bloom downloads page. Here are the Linux installation instructions. As usual, you can have the Release & Beta versions installed at the same time, and open books in either one.

If you have any questions about these new features, please ask them here on this forum. If you find bugs, please use Help:Report a Problem and include your book. If you need to use email, please send to issues@bloomlibrary.org.
