A different Spanish topic in a BLOOM book

I am pleased that the new Beta version of BLOOM has resolved the issues of creative commons now appearing in Spanish, and also the choice of book topics in Spanish. I would like to make a request concerning the choice of topics in Spanish. The only choice related to the Scriptures is “espiritual”. That does not serve very well, at least in Colombia (and perhaps other Spanish speaking countries also). Could you change it to “historia Bíblica”? Or add it to the list? “Escritura” would also be preferable to “espiritual”.

Thanks, Penelope

Hi Penelope,

For Bloom 5.6, which we hope to promote to “Release” from “Beta” today, we have retired the “Spiritual” topic and added a “Bible” topic. Books with a copyright matching the most common Bible-material books will automatically be changed. Others will lose their topic. We recommend the “Culture” topic if “Bible” isn’t a good descriptor.

There has been a short delay in getting “Biblia” to show instead of “Bible”, but that should happen today.

We have also made this change on BloomLibrary.org, in a semi-automated way. If you see any of your own books that have lost their topic but should have “Bible”, please add the topic in Bloom 5.6 and then re-upload the book. If you are unable to do this, please request librarian@bloomlibrary.org to manually add the Bible topic to the book.

@Penelope_Pickens Biblia is now available in Bloom 5.6.

A final note: in Bloom 6.0, which will be in beta shortly, you can choose to hide the topic from the front cover.
